Dental Implants in Dubai

Dental implants are man-made structures surgically placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. The implant acts as an anchor for the replacement tooth (crown) and is attached using an abutment. Crowns are designed to look and function like natural teeth, offering a comfortable and permanent solution. Dental implants are recommended over dentures due to their higher success rate, improved chewing ability, and reduced risk of cavities and sensitivity in nearby teeth. However, not everyone is a candidate for dental implants, as healthy jaw structure and bone density are necessary for successful bonding.

Dental Implants FAQs

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a prosthesis used to replace missing teeth. Essentially, it is a small titanium post/fixture that is inserted into the jawbone, on top of which a single crown (cap), a fixed bridge, a partial denture, or full denture can be attached. Once the implant integrates to your bone, a structure called an abutment is connected to the implant and then the artificial tooth/teeth are attached.

How long will implant last?

Typically, they last longer than conventional dental work, as long as you take care of them properly with daily cleaning, just like your natural teeth, (floss, brush, etc.). When properly maintained and good oral health exist, it is possible for implants to last a lifetime.

What makes dental implants superior to other tooth replacement options?

Dental implants look and perform just like natural teeth. They prevent bone loss in the jaw and seat in the gums for a natural appearance. Patients can eat, drink, talk, smile, and laugh with confidence, knowing their teeth will not budge. Patients with implants can brush and floss normally. Implants have an amazing 95% long-term success rate. Far higher than other restoration options.

What is the success rate of dental implants?

It varies from individual to individual and with health and habits. For a healthy individual with good oral hygiene and good health, dental implants are predictably successful with reported success rates above 90-95 percent.

How long will the procedures take?

In many cases, implants can be placed, and a temporary tooth can be made at the same time as the tooth is removed. In other cases, the implants are placed and have to heal for several months before placing the final tooth. The dental implant procedure usually takes 3 months for the lower jaw and 6 months for the upper jaw for the implant to fully integrate with your bone. However, everyone heals differently, so the doctor will monitor your progress closely.

Is the procedure painful?

No. We use local anesthetic to ensure your comfort throughout the implant procedure and offer sedation dentistry to patients with dental anxiety or other concerns. You may experience discomfort following the procedure, but this can typically be treated with the application of ice and the use of over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen.
